Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I have heard that’s a typical interview question at larger firms.
I also heard it in a funny movie where an older retired gentleman is looking for part time work. I can’t remember his answer, but mine might be ‘still breathing.’ ;D
I used to work in telephone engineering long-range planning. That’s a mouthful, but my point is we planned. We had a 20-year plan and a 5-year plan. We revised those every year as things changed. But we always looked at everything long-term. Many of us adapted that training to our own lives. One boss bought a brand new car just before he retired as part of his long-range plan. He planned for that to be his last car.
Making a long-range plan can be fun. It means setting some goals. Having dreams. When life is handing out lemons, can we make some lemonade. Mine may have a little something extra in it. ;D
I am planting fruit trees. It will be a while before I can enjoy the fruit, but I am excited to see them bloom and grow.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Need some help with a plan?
